To save time and avoid confusion during an emergency, there are a few pieces of information that will help you and your family be prepared. Print out the Important Emergency Information Worksheet and keep it where you will be able to find it when it counts.
- In which emergency planning area do you live? Use the map to find the area in which you live. It is not likely that everyone within 10 miles of the St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant would be affected during an emergency. The area affected would depend on weather conditions, such as wind speed, direction and the severity of the incident. Knowing your area will help you identify how best to protect yourself and your family.
- Where is your reception center? Reception centers are available to provide food, shelter and communications during an emergency.
- What is your best evacuation route? Evacuation routes are outlined on the map and detailed below. Familiarizing yourself with the evacuation route now will help reduce stress during an emergency. In the event of an evacuation, emergency public transportation will be provided to those that need assistance. Contact your local emergency management agency to pre-register.
Area 1 includes Hutchinson Island north of the St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant to Seaway Drive.

Area 3 includes the southern tip of North Hutchinson Island including Fort Pierce Inlet State Park and Hutchinson Island north of Seaway Drive. On the mainland, Area 3 includes the area between the Indian River and Kings Highway from Belcher Canal south to Edwards Road and Savannah Road.

- South of North Beach Causeway and Belcher Canal.
- East of Kings Highway.
- West of the Indian River.

Area 4 includes the area west of Highway 1 between Edwards Road south to St. Lucie West Boulevard or Prima Vista Boulevard. The eastern boundary is marked by California Boulevard, Interstate 95 between Glades Cut-off Road and the Florida Turnpike, and the Florida Turnpike north of Interstate 95 to interchange 152.
